Interview with Dancer Anna Mischio
(Dedicated to my mother who likes dancing)
1. Laura Bünd: Dear Anna, you are such a lovely dancer, when did you start dancing and what was the reason why?
Anna Mischio: When I was 2 years old, my parents put me in dance classes. I immediately fell in love with it, and I’ve been dancing ever since.
2. LB: Where did you learn to dance?
AM: I am originally from Madison, Wisconsin. I took classes at several different studios in the area. Last year, I moved to Chicago, Illinois. I have been taking classes at places like Visceral, Extensions, and American Rhythm Center.
3. LB: How important is dancing for you?
AM: Dancing is one of the most important things in my life. It is what I want to spend the rest of my life doing.
4. LB: What do you feel when you dance?
AM: I feel so much joy when I am dancing. It’s a place where I can truly be free, and explore myself.
5. LB: Which is your favorite dance style?
AM: My favorite style of dance is four-way tied between hip-hop, contemperary, jazz funk, and heels. They each bring out different sides to me.
6. LB: I really love your dance video „I hate you, I love you“. Is there a history behind?
AM: I’m so glad you love it! There’s actually no specific story behind it. My boyfriend and I were taking a dance class together, and the teacher wanted to film it. We both loved the choreography and song!
7. LB: It must be marvelous to dance with your love?! I’m really jealous ;)
AM: I absolutly love dancing with my boyfriend! He inspires me so much in class. His creativity and talent always pushes me to work harder. Nothing makes me happier than dancing with him.
8. LB: How many hours do you practice a week?
AM: I usually dance about 15-20 hours per week. It depends on the classes I take!
9. LB: Which famous dancers influenced you?
AM: Many dancers have influenced me, such as Alison Holker, Delaney Glazer, and Jamie Houptmann. They all work so hard and have so much passion for what they do.
10. LB: Are you going on tour with your dance performance or when is the next opportunity to see you on stage?
AM: I am currently touring with Tremaine Dance Conventions. I assist for the teachers there, and perform in the ending showcase every weekend. Other than that, I often am in dance pieces in local dance shows, such as Carnival.
11. LB: What’s your ambition?
AM: My ambition is become extremely sucessful through dance. I want to perform on tour with an artist, on awards shows, movies, and tv shows.
